It's Beer Week in Sacramento. The Gold Country Brewers' Association has declared the First Annual Sacramento Beer Week for February 21st through February 27th. If you are interested in knowing more, visit their website at sacramentobeerweek.com.
As for my part, I celebrated Beer Week by transferring my third batch, a Red Ale, into the secondary fermenter. It woke up the yeast for a few minutes, and bubbled somewhat vigorously for a short while, then slowed down. The recipe said keep it in the primary for one to two weeks, and it has been seventeen days. It also said keep it in the secondary for one to two weeks, but I plan to bottle it the weekend after next.
Speaking of bottling, I have been enjoying the fruits of my labors quite a bit. Two bottles of home brewed Amber Ale give a pretty nice buzz. The carbonation is a bit uneven, which makes me worry about the seal of the caps. For the most part, it foams up nicely and tastes great.
Last thing tonight, the Brown ale. The Batch Two has been in the bottle for over two weeks, and I'm ready to try it. I'm first going to go out and buy a sixpack of another brown ale to compare it to. I'll be writing about that possibly tomorrow. Until then, happy Beer Week.
