An Update

As I write this, I can see fifty bottles of Amber Ale sitting in the corner, ripening. They will be ready to drink by Valentine's Day, which will be a perfect time to share the first couple of bottles with my sweetheart. I don't think they will last long after that, especially if they taste good.

Meanwhile, I have a five-gallon carboy full of Brown Ale in the giant glass bottle in the bedroom closet. It is settling, and waiting until the weekend to be bottled. It seems I just got finished bottling two full cases of Amber Ale. Wait! I did just get finished bottling two full cases of Amber Ale! So, siphon the jug into the bucket, sterilize 50 bottles, fill and cap, and wait two weeks. Sounds easy.

I'm looking forward to starting a new batch this weekend, which will be a Red Ale. The recipe for the Red Ale is more involved, so I decided not to start last Sunday. The problem with it is that the preparation time is a bit longer, but the fermentation time is nearly double what the brown ale asked for. I may not decide to brew a Red Ale again if it turns out to be more difficult than I have time for.

It is "between" time now. I can't drink any yet, and I have brewed two batches. I'll be back on the weekend, still drinking store beer.
